Cochise Women’s Soccer Explodes for 8-3 Victory Over College of Southern Nevada
DOUGLAS, Ariz. (Sept. 27, 2025) — The Cochise College women's soccer team powered past the College of Southern Nevada on Saturday, earning a wild 8-3 home victory in a match filled with early goals and high-paced action in Douglas.
The first half was chaotic and high scoring, as both teams traded early punches. CSN struck first in the 5th minute through Savannah Foschetti (assist Nathaly Perez-Rodriguez) and added another in the 9th minute from Kate Oliva. Cochise responded immediately, scoring three times in a five-minute burst — Maria Ibarra (10'), Tiia Kuhmonen (11'), and Chayton Barron (13'). Kuhmonen added her second in the 15th, assisted by Ibarra, giving the Apaches a 4-2 lead. CSN pulled one back in the 30th minute when Foschetti converted a penalty to make it 4-3 at halftime.
After the break, Cochise settled and dominated. Diana Taddei took over with goals in the 53rd (assist Jennifer Hernandez), 61st (assist Samantha Herrero), and 74th minutes to record a second-half hat trick. Maria Ibarra capped the scoring in the 82nd minute, assisted by Angelita Carlos, sealing an emphatic 8-3 win.
The match was physical and intense, with Cochise whistled for 10 fouls and CSN for 5. The Apaches outshot the Coyotes 14-5 and kept the pressure high throughout.
Cochise's goalkeeping group navigated an unusual day: starter Julia Vigorito exited after 20 minutes due to a medical issue; Marissa Tamayo came on and made one save before receiving a yellow card; and Monserrat Alzate finished the match, also registering a save.
The victory improves Cochise to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2 in ACCAC play, marking the team's highest scoring output of the season.
The Apaches next face another major conference test when they host No. 14 Eastern Arizona College on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 3:00 p.m. MST at the Cochise soccer field.
