Cochise Women’s Soccer Caps Colorado Trip With 10-0 Rout at Trinidad State
TRINIDAD, Colo. (Aug. 25, 2025) — The Cochise College women's soccer team closed out its four-game, five-day Colorado road swing in emphatic fashion Monday, defeating Trinidad State College 10-0 to notch its third straight victory.
The Apaches set the tone early, scoring six times in the first half to build a commanding lead. Ana Velazquez opened the scoring in the fifth minute, followed quickly by Maria Ibarra in the sixth and Samantha Herrero in the 10th. Freshman Tiia Kuhmonen struck in the 11th, while Velazquez added her second goal in the 19th. Jazmin Ortiz capped the first-half surge with a tally in the 38th minute.
Cochise stayed on the attack after halftime, with Ibarra scoring again in the 58th minute. Kuhmonen added two more goals in the 62nd and 74th minutes to complete her hat trick, and Kassandra Flores finished the scoring in the 76th minute, assisted by Carlos.
The Apaches outshot the Trojans 23-0 and did not allow a single shot attempt, as goalkeeper Julia Vigorito recorded the clean sheet without being tested.
Kuhmonen's hat trick highlighted the offensive showcase, while Angelita Carlos contributed two assists. In total, nine different players recorded either a goal or an assist in the team's most balanced performance of the young season.
With the result, Cochise improves to 3-0-1 overall, extending its winning streak to three matches.
The Apaches now turn their focus to California, where they will travel to face Imperial Valley College on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in Imperial, Calif.
