Cochise drops Region 1 Semifinal match to Eastern Arizona

DOUGLAS, Ariz. --- The Cochise Women's Soccer postseason came to an abrupt end yesterday afternoon when the Apaches fell to visiting Eastern Arizona College 3-1 in the NJCAA Region 1 Semifinal. The Gila Monsters opened up the match with their first goal in the 26th minute from Grace Abegg. EAC extended its lead over Cochise when Suika Shibutani scored off of an assist from Ana Julia Carlessi two minutes into the second half of the match.

The Apaches responded when sophomore Abigail Pursley scored, cutting the EAC lead in half. With fifteen minutes left in the semifinal match, Kara Camp of Eastern Arizona scored an unassisted goal to put the Gila Monsters up 3-1 with only minutes remaining.

With the 3-1 win over Cochise, Eastern Arizona advanced to the Region 1 Final on Saturday evening at Arizona Western College in Yuma, AZ. 

The Cochise Women's Soccer team finished their regular and postseason with a final overall record of 10-3-2 and a 6-3-2 conference record.
