Cochise Women’s Soccer Falls 2-0 at Mohave Community College
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (Oct. 4, 2025) — The Cochise College women's soccer team came up short on the road Saturday, falling 2-0 to Mohave Community College in a physical ACCAC matchup.
The game remained tight through the first half, with both sides creating opportunities but unable to break through. Mohave finally struck just before halftime when Magaly Guzman-Lopez scored in the 46th minute off assists from Brianne Kumashiro and Estephanie Montiel-Silva. Guzman-Lopez struck again early in the second half, finishing a feed from Kumashiro in the 53rd minute to extend the Big Horns' lead.
Cochise battled to respond, generating 11 total shots and 6 corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Marissa Tamayo made four saves for the Apaches, while Mohave's keeper Evelyn Montiel-Silva stopped all four Cochise shots on goal to earn the shutout.
The match was evenly played in physicality as well, with each team committing seven fouls. Cochise also received a yellow card in the 84th minute.
With the loss, Cochise drops to 7-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in ACCAC play as conference competition intensifies.
The Apaches will look to bounce back when they travel to Tucson to face Pima Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 5:45 p.m. MST.
