Cochise Women’s Soccer Secures 2-1 Road Victory at Yavapai
PRESCOTT, Ariz. (Sept. 23, 2025) — The Cochise College women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory on the road Tuesday night, defeating the Yavapai College Roughriders in a match relocated to Prescott High School due to field conditions at Yavapai's home site. Kickoff was pushed back from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Apaches struck first as Diana Taddei scored off an assist from captain Stephanie Vazquez-Ceron, giving Cochise an early advantage. The Apaches scored again when Angelita Carlos found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0. Yavapai responded with a goal of their own in the second half from Keira Campbell, but wasn't enough for the Roughriders.
Cochise's defense held firm the rest of the way, limiting Yavapai's opportunities and securing the one-goal win. Goalkeeper play was steady throughout, helping Cochise preserve the lead in a fast-paced, physical contest.
With the result, Cochise improves to 6-3-1 overall, continuing its strong start to the 2025 season.
The Apaches will return home for their next contest, hosting the College of Southern Nevada on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11:00 a.m. MST at the Cochise soccer field in Douglas.
