Cochise Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 8 Snow College in Yuma
YUMA, Ariz. (Aug. 29, 2025) — Cochise College women's soccer saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 to No. 8-ranked Snow College in a neutral-site contest at Arizona Western College.
Snow struck early in the match, with Saige Meryhew scoring in the 14th minute and again in the 39th to put the Badgers up 2-0 at halftime. After the break, Breanna Arauzo extended the lead with goals in the 57th and 66th minutes to close out the match.
Cochise battled throughout, registering five shots on goal, but was unable to break through against the nationally ranked opponent. The Apaches also had to navigate adversity after Maria Satizabal was issued a yellow card and Jimena Zambrano was shown a red card, forcing Cochise to finish the game shorthanded.
Goalkeeper Marissa Tamayo anchored the defense and kept the Apaches within reach for much of the match, finishing with eight saves against a Snow attack that produced 12 shots on frame.
The loss drops Cochise to 3-1-1 overall, snapping both a three-match winning streak and consecutive shutouts.
The Apaches will look to regroup when they begin ACCAC play on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 4:30 p.m. MST, visiting Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Ariz.
