Cochise Women’s Soccer Earns 4-0 Victory at Otero College
LA JUNTA, Colo. (Aug. 24, 2025) — The Cochise College women's soccer team continued its strong Colorado road swing on Sunday, defeating Otero College 4-0 at La Junta High School Stadium.
Freshman forward Samantha Herrero opened the scoring in the ninth minute, finishing a pass from Angelita Carlos for her fourth goal in three matches to give Cochise the early lead. The Apaches struck again shortly after halftime, with Diana Taddei converting off an assist from Maria Satizabal in the 42nd minute. Moments later, Carlos found the back of the net herself, scoring in the 44th minute with Herrero providing the assist to extend the Cochise lead to 3-0.
The Apaches capped the scoring in the second half when Emely Tavarez slotted home a goal in the 69th minute, assisted by Ana Velazquez.
Cochise controlled the flow of play throughout, recording 10 total shots while limiting Otero to minimal chances. Goalkeeper Marissa Tamayo was credited for the shutout, marking the team's second consecutive clean sheet.
With the victory, Cochise improves to 2-0-1 overall and extends its winning streak to two matches.
The Apaches conclude their grueling four-games-in-five-days stretch in Colorado on Monday, Aug. 25, when they face Trinidad State College at 10:00 a.m. MST in Trinidad, Colorado.
