Cochise Rodeo Continues Strong Spring Run at Central Arizona College Rodeo
CASA GRANDE, AZ — The Cochise College Rodeo Team continued its strong start to the 2026 NIRA Grand Canyon Region spring season with another solid performance at the Central Arizona College Rodeo, held March 14–15 at the Casa Grande Rodeo Grounds.
The Apaches once again saw both teams finish near the top of the standings, with the women's team placing 2nd overall and the men's team finishing 3rd following the opening day of competition.
Day One – March 14
Cochise's competitors recorded several strong finishes across multiple events during the first night of action.
Tie Down Roping

Walker Story led the Apaches with a 2nd-place finish, earning valuable points for the men's team.
Team Roping

The tandem of Taten Erickson and Walker Story finished 6th overall.
Bull Riding

Braulio Barraza delivered one of the top rides of the night, placing 2nd in bull riding.
Saddle Bronc Riding

Teran Broderson added another podium performance for Cochise, finishing 2nd.
Goat Tying

Macie Fowlie continued her strong spring campaign, splitting 1st/2nd place.

Alexia Guzman also placed, finishing in a 4th–6th split.
Breakaway Roping

Macie Fowlie added another scoring finish, splitting 3rd/4th place.
Day Two – March 15
The Apaches continued to compete well in the second performance, adding more top finishes.
Bull Riding

Braulio Barraza remained consistent, earning another 2nd-place finish.
Tie Down Roping

Taten Erickson placed 5th.

Walker Story followed with an 8th-place finish.
Steer Wrestling

Kass Kimble delivered a strong run to place 4th overall.
Goat Tying

Sealey Bottom turned in one of the best performances of the day, finishing 2nd.

Kylynn Bryson added to the women's team total with a 7th-place finish.
Looking Ahead
The Cochise College Rodeo Team will next compete on home ground when the Apaches host the Cochise College Rodeo at Wren Arena in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, on March 28–29. The event is one of the highlights of the Grand Canyon Region spring schedule and will bring top collegiate rodeo athletes from across the region to Southern Arizona.
