Apaches Close Regular Season with Road Win at Yavapai
PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Cochise College Women's Basketball closed the regular season on a high note Saturday afternoon, defeating Yavapai College 86–66 in ACCAC conference action.
The victory improves the Apaches to 10–20 overall and 6–9 in conference play, securing momentum heading into postseason play.
After trailing 20–11 at the end of the first quarter, Cochise responded with a dominant second period, outscoring Yavapai 31–4 to take a commanding 42–24 halftime lead. The Apaches maintained control in the second half, matching Yavapai point-for-point in the third and fourth quarters to seal the 20-point road win.
Cochise shot efficiently throughout the contest and capitalized at the free-throw line, while limiting Yavapai to 32.9 percent shooting from the field and just 3-of-23 from three-point range (13.0%).
Yavapai was led by Giselle Serrano with 13 points and Annika Hester with 12, but Cochise's second-quarter surge proved decisive.
With the regular season complete, the Apaches have officially clinched the No. 4 seed in the NJCAA Region I Tournament.

Cochise will travel to Thatcher, Arizona, on Saturday, March 7, to face No. 1 seeded Eastern Arizona College in the NJCAA Region I Semifinals. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Eastern Arizona enters as the top seed, while Cochise looks to carry its late-season momentum into postseason play.
