Cochise Secures Road Victory at Central Arizona
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — Cochise College Women's Basketball closed out its final road contest of the regular season with a strong performance Wednesday night, defeating Central Arizona College 68–60 in ACCAC conference action.
The victory improves the Apaches to 9–20 overall and 5–9 in conference play, marking another key conference road win as the regular season winds down.
Cochise controlled the tempo early, building a narrow first-quarter lead before extending the margin in the second. The Apaches carried momentum into halftime and maintained composure in the second half, answering every Central Arizona run to secure the eight-point victory.
Freshman Malika Goutay delivered another standout performance, recording a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while adding two blocks in the paint. Cecy Burruel contributed 16 points, attacking off the dribble and converting key free throws down the stretch.
Noa Mikami added 12 points and knocked down two three-pointers, while Lesline Penge controlled the interior with 10 rebounds and a strong defensive presence. Hannah Dibadjou chipped in eight points and six rebounds to round out a balanced offensive effort.
Cochise shot 43.5 percent from the field and held Central Arizona to just 35.8 percent shooting, while winning the rebounding battle and limiting second-chance opportunities. The Apaches also converted efficiently at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to close out the game.
Central Arizona was led by Ella Reisner with 18 points, but Cochise's balanced scoring and interior control proved decisive.
