Cochise Earns Second Straight Road Win at Southern Nevada
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Cochise College Women's Basketball continued its strong road stretch Friday night, defeating the College of Southern Nevada 64–57 in ACCAC conference action to secure back-to-back road victories.
The win improves the Apaches to 8–18 overall and 4–7 in conference play, marking their second consecutive conference win away from home.
Cochise jumped out quickly, taking a 23–22 lead after the first quarter behind efficient shooting from the perimeter. After a challenging second quarter, the Apaches regrouped in the third, outscoring Southern Nevada 19–10 to regain momentum and carry a lead into the final period. Cochise held off a late push from the Coyotes to close out the win.
Balanced scoring powered the Apaches, with Cecy Burruel and Gaby Oliver each scoring 14 points. Malika Goutay added a strong all-around effort with 12 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, and two steals, controlling the glass and providing a key defensive presence.
Sophomore center Lesline Penge anchored the interior with nine points, 12 rebounds, and six blocks, while Noa Mikami knocked down three three-pointers and finished with nine points. Cochise also received a boost from its bench, which contributed 15 points.
The Apaches shot 56.3 percent from three-point range and dominated the rebounding battle 48–38, while limiting Southern Nevada to 28.8 percent shooting from the field.
Southern Nevada was led by Saroiya Ajomale, who scored 27 points, but Cochise's defensive pressure and interior control proved decisive down the stretch.

Cochise returns home on Wednesday, February 18, hosting Arizona Western College in Douglas, Arizona. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM at the Cochise Stronghold Gymnasium.
