Apaches Fall to Eastern Arizona in Conference Matchup
THATCHER, Ariz. — Cochise College Women's Basketball faced a tough road challenge Wednesday night, falling 71–45 to Eastern Arizona College in ACCAC conference action at Guitteau Gymnasium. The loss drops the Apaches to 6–17 overall and 2–6 in conference play.
Eastern Arizona set the tone early, opening the game on an 18–6 run in the first quarter and building a 37–13 halftime lead. The Lady Gila Monsters continued their momentum into the second half, using balanced scoring and defensive pressure to maintain control.
Cochise struggled offensively in the opening half, shooting just 19.3 percent from the field for the game and 7.1 percent from three-point range. Despite improved energy after halftime, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Freshman Cecy Burruel led the Apaches with 13 points, going 10-for-11 at the free-throw line and providing steady leadership throughout the contest. Hannah Dibadjou added 12 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double performance, while Malika Goutay finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds in limited minutes.
Sophomore center Lesline Penge contributed six rebounds and two blocks, anchoring the interior, and Noa Mikami chipped in three steals while battling defensively on the perimeter.
Cochise was outrebounded 52–31 and committed 17 turnovers, which Eastern Arizona converted into 23 points. The Lady Gila Monsters also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 24 points off offensive rebounds.
Eastern Arizona was led by Esmeralda Enriquez, who scored 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including three three-pointers, as the hosts improved to 1–0 in conference play.

Cochise returns home on Saturday, February 7, to host Central Arizona College at the Cochise Stronghold Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
