Cochise Opens ACCAC Play with Dominant Win Over Southern Nevada
DOUGLAS, Ariz. — Cochise College Women's Basketball opened ACCAC conference play in emphatic fashion Thursday night, rolling past the College of Southern Nevada 77–37 at the Cochise Stronghold Gymnasium. The win improves the Apaches to 5–11 overall and 1–0 in conference play.
Cochise set the tone early, jumping out to a 21–6 first-quarter lead and never looking back. The Apaches held Southern Nevada to just 20.6% shooting for the game while forcing 21 turnovers, turning defensive pressure into consistent scoring opportunities.
Balanced scoring powered the Cochise offense, with Gaby Oliver leading the way with 16 points and six assists. Cecy Burruel followed with 14 points, while Hannah Dibadjou added 13 points and 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Off the bench, Malika Goutay provided a strong spark, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Noa Mikami contributed eight points, eight assists, and three steals. Lesline Penge anchored the interior with nine rebounds, helping Cochise dominate the paint 48–14 and win the rebounding battle 45–32.
The Apaches shot an efficient 58.6% from the field and recorded 23 assists on 34 made baskets, showcasing ball movement and unselfish play throughout the night. Cochise also held a decisive edge in points off turnovers (25–14) and bench scoring (20–10).
Southern Nevada was led by Saroiya Ajomale, who scored 18 points, but the Coyotes were limited to just six points in the opening quarter and never recovered as Cochise built its largest lead to 44 points in the third quarter.
