Cochise’s Lesline Penge Named ACCAC Player of the Week (Week 2)
Cochise College sophomore forward Lesline Penge has been selected as the ACCAC Player of the Week for Week 2 following a dominant three-game performance in Thatcher, Arizona. Penge established herself as one of the premier interior forces in the conference, delivering consistent scoring, elite rebounding, and stout rim protection throughout Cochise's opening stretch.
Penge opened the season with one of the biggest performances in the country, exploding for 16 points and 23 rebounds—including 13 on the offensive glass—in the Apaches' matchup with Snow College . She followed that with another strong effort against Western Wyoming, posting 6 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks, once again controlling the paint and helping Cochise win the rebounding battle .
In Saturday's contest against national contender College of Southern Idaho, Penge remained a force, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks, marking her second double-double of the week and showcasing her defensive impact with a season-high in shot blocking .
Across the three-game Week 2 slate, Penge averaged:
-
11.0 points per game
-
15.3 rebounds per game
-
6.3 blocks per game
-
9.0 offensive rebounds total
-
Two double-doubles
Her consistency on the glass and ability to anchor Cochise's interior defense were pivotal throughout the road series and made her the clear standout for this week's conference honor.
Cochise returns home this weekend with some momentum behind the breakout performance from its sophomore forward.
