Cochise Rodeo Sends Multiple Qualifiers to CNFR After Strong Showing in Prescott
PRESCOTT, AZ — The Cochise College Rodeo Team delivered when it mattered most at the Grand Canyon Region Finale, competing April 23–25 at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds. The two-rodeo format marked the final opportunity for athletes to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming this June — and the Apaches rose to the occasion.
Cochise posted consistent team finishes with the women's team placing 2nd and the men's team finishing 3rd across both rodeos, while several athletes secured regional titles and national qualifications.
Prescott Regional Rodeo #1
The opening rodeo of the weekend set the tone with multiple podium finishes across events:
Bull Riding
- Braulio Barraza continued his dominant season, capturing 1st place.
Saddle Bronc Riding
- Teran Broderson added another championship performance, finishing 1st overall.
Steer Wrestling
- Taten Erickson placed 2nd, keeping himself in strong position for regional honors.
Tie Down Roping
- Cason Scouten finished 3rd.
- Garrett Berreth followed with a 4th-place finish.
Goat Tying & Breakaway Roping
- Macie Fowlie placed 6th/7th in Goat Tying and added a strong 3rd-place finish in Breakaway Roping.
- Sealey Bottoms recorded a 6th-place finish in Breakaway Roping.
Barrel Racing
- Kylynn Bryson contributed with a 5th-place finish.

Prescott Regional Rodeo #2
Cochise athletes continued their strong performances in the second rodeo of the weekend:
Barrel Racing & Goat Tying
- Sealey Bottom highlighted the women's side with a 1st-place finish in Barrel Racing and 3rd in Goat Tying.
Steer Wrestling
- Taten Erickson closed out the weekend with a 1st-place finish.
Bull Riding
- Braulio Barraza remained dominant, earning another 1st-place finish.
Team Roping
- Tristan Goodwin and Garrett Berreth combined for a 5th-place finish.
Goat Tying
- Macie Fowlie and Hallie Hansen both placed within the top 10, finishing 7th and 10th, respectively.

The Prescott finale finalized the Grand Canyon Region standings, with multiple Cochise athletes earning spots at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR):

- Taten Erickson — Reserve Champion, Steer Wrestling & All-Around Cowboy
- Teran Broderson — Reserve Champion, Saddle Bronc Riding

- Sealey Bottom — Qualified in Goat Tying and Barrel Racing

Looking Ahead
With the regional season complete, Cochise College Rodeo will now turn its attention to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming, where the Apaches will compete against the top collegiate rodeo athletes in the nation this June.
