Cochise Rodeo Opens Spring Season with Strong Finish in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ — The Cochise College Rodeo Team opened the 2026 spring season with a strong showing at the Tucson College Rodeo, hosted by the University of Arizona on March 7 at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds. The Apaches placed near the top of the standings in multiple events, with the women's team finishing 2nd overall and the men's team placing 3rd.
The spring schedule consists of five rodeos across the Grand Canyon Region, leading up to the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming this June.
Goat Tying
The Cochise women dominated the goat tying event, producing multiple scoring finishes.

Macie Fowlie led the way, capturing 1st place to earn the maximum points for the Apaches.

Alexia Guzman followed with a split 4th/5th place finish.

Sealey Bottoms added more points to the team total, splitting 6th/7th place.
Barrel Racing

Sealey Bottoms delivered another strong performance, finishing 4th in Barrel Racing, adding valuable points toward the women's team runner-up finish.
Steer Wrestling

Taten Erickson represented Cochise well in the bulldogging event, finishing 4th overall to earn points for the men's team.
Team Roping

The partnership of Taten Erickson and Walker Story secured a 6th place finish to contribute to the team standings.
Additional Cochise entries Murphy Gaasch and Kass Kimble also placed inside the top 10, just outside the point-earning positions.
Tie Down Roping
Cochise had several competitors performing well in the tie down event:

Rylee McRoberts placed 6th overall, earning points for the Apaches.
