Apaches Set to Host NJCAA West District Championship Saturday Night
The stage is set in Douglas for one of the biggest games in program history.
Fresh off capturing the NJCAA Region I Championship, the Cochise College Apaches will host the NJCAA West District Championship on Saturday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m. inside the Stronghold Gymnasium. The Apaches will face the Region 18 Champion College of Southern Idaho (CSI) with a berth to the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament on the line.
A High-Level Matchup
The Golden Eagles of College of Southern Idaho arrive in Douglas as one of the top teams in the country. CSI is currently ranked No. 3 nationally in NJCAA Division I and enters the district championship with an impressive 30–2 overall record.
Southern Idaho earned the Region 18 title on Saturday, March 7, defeating No. 1-ranked Snow College 64–60 in the championship game.
Throughout the season, the Golden Eagles have been one of the most balanced teams in junior college basketball. CSI averages more than 84 points per game while allowing just over 65, demonstrating strong offensive efficiency paired with disciplined defense.
Players such as Jalen Lyn, who has produced explosive scoring performances—including a 31-point game earlier this season—have helped fuel CSI's success as they navigated the competitive Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Apaches Earn the Opportunity at Home
Cochise enters the West District Championship with momentum after dominating the Region I Tournament and claiming the championship on their home floor. The Apaches will now look to defend that home court once again with the chance to advance to the national stage.
Saturday's game marks the final step before the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament, making it one of the most significant contests of the season for both programs.
