Cochise Dominates in 126–77 Home Victory Over AZ Sol Post Grad
DOUGLAS, Ariz. — The Cochise College men's basketball team put together one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, rolling past AZ Sol Post Grad 126–77 on Saturday afternoon in the Stronghold Gymnasium. The win pushes the Apaches to 9–2 overall heading into next week's Chapman Holiday Classic in Yuma.
Freshman guard Emmanuel Jo Samuel continued his torrid shooting stretch, scoring 28 points on 10-of-16 from the field, including 7-for-9 from three-point range, while adding 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Davon Jones added 20 points and 6 boards off the bench, and Naeem Colston turned in another efficient effort with 16 points and 5 assists.
Devin Falk-Ramirez directed the offense with 9 assists to go with 13 points and 2 steals, and Teron Murray filled the stat sheet with 17 points and 2 rebounds. The Apaches shot a blistering 61.4 percent from the field and 50 percent from three, piling up 37 assists on 51 made baskets while dominating the glass 41–20.
Cochise jumped out to a 60–33 halftime lead and never looked back, outscoring AZ Sol 66–44 in the second half. The Apaches also overwhelmed the visitors inside, scoring 62 points in the paint and 29 second-chance points, while holding AZ Sol to just 5 offensive rebounds.
AZ Sol's Jamaal M. led the visitors with 19 points, while Aaron Hernandez added 18.
With their fourth straight win, Cochise improves to 9–2 and will next travel to Yuma for the Chapman Holiday Classic hosted by Arizona Western College. The Apaches open the tournament on Tuesday, December 16 at 7 p.m.
