The Cochise College men's basketball team overcame a very sluggish start Saturday afternoon in the Phoenix College Bear's den. Cochise was down by as many as 20 points early in the first half but stormed back to take a 39-37 halftime lead.
Guard Jay Rodgers hit a huge three-point field goal to put the Apaches up by three late in the game. The Apaches closed out the game by scoring the last seven points of the contest. Cochise was led by Rodgers 27 points, while Stephen "Tank" Byard chipped in 18 points in the ACCAC road win.
Cochise moves to 23-3 overall and 14-2 in ACCAC play.
UP NEXT
Cochise will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 9, with another road game. The Apaches travel to South Mountain CC for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off with the Cougars.
