No. 20 Apaches Close Regular Season with 8–3 Win, Tie Program Record for Wins
DOUGLAS, Ariz. — The No. 20 Cochise College Apaches capped off their 2026 regular season with an 8–3 victory over Yavapai College on Saturday at Bo Hall Field, finishing with a 43–13 overall record (20–10 ACCAC).
With the win, Cochise ties the program record for most regular season victories (43), matching the mark set by the 2005 team, and heads into postseason play with strong momentum.
Balanced Offense Lifts Cochise
After falling behind early, the Apaches responded with a steady offensive attack, scoring in six different innings and finishing with eight runs on nine hits while drawing 11 walks.
Cochise got on the board in the second inning before taking control with a three-run fourth inning and adding insurance late.
Andrugh Yee delivered a standout performance, going 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, providing the biggest swing of the game.
Jorge Cardenas added a home run and finished with two runs scored and an RBI, while George McCarroll led the team with three hits and an RBI.
TJ Shaw Jr. contributed two hits, and Anthony Montez drove in a run as Cochise received production throughout the lineup.
Bullpen Dominance Secures Win
After a challenging start, the Apaches' bullpen took control of the game.
Starter Dylan Torres worked two innings, allowing three runs, but the relief staff was dominant from there:
- Landon Blais (W, 4–0): 2.0 IP, 0 ER
- Shane Hooper: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 4 K
- Daniel Gomez: 1.1 IP, 0 ER
- Ben Couvreur: 1.2 IP, 0 ER, 4 K
Cochise held Yavapai scoreless over the final seven innings, limiting them to just seven hits total while striking out 14 batters .

The victory not only secured the series but placed the Apaches alongside one of the best teams in program history, tying the single-season regular season wins record (43).
Cochise finishes the regular season as one of the top teams in the region, combining offensive power, depth, and a strong pitching staff heading into the postseason.
