No. 14 Apaches Sweep Post Grad Scottsdale, Improve to 32–6
DOUGLAS, Ariz. — The No. 14 Cochise College Apaches continued their strong stretch in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against Post Grad Scottsdale at Bo Hall Field. With the two wins, Cochise improves to 32–6 overall (9–3 ACCAC) heading back into conference action.
Cochise earned 13–3 and 10–2 victories, combining for 23 runs and showcasing both offensive depth and strong pitching performances throughout the day.
Game One: Cochise 13, Post Grad Scottsdale 3
The Apaches opened the doubleheader with a dominant 13–3 win, fueled by a balanced offensive attack and patience at the plate .
Cochise scored in five different innings, including a four-run sixth, finishing with 13 runs on 13 hits and nine walks.
Gavin Mesa led the way with a huge performance, going 3-for-3 with four runs scored and a home run, while Sawyer Fech added a standout day with three hits and four RBIs.
Jorge Cardenas drove in three runs, and Anthony Montez chipped in two hits and two runs scored. Landon Blais provided a spark off the bench with two hits and an RBI.
On the mound, Max Pitts earned the win, while Landon Blais and Shane Hooper combined to hold Post Grad Scottsdale to just three runs on six hits, striking out six.
Game Two: Cochise 10, Post Grad Scottsdale 2
Cochise completed the sweep with a 10–2 victory Game 2, once again using timely hitting and strong pitching to control the game .
The Apaches broke the game open early with three runs in the second inning and added insurance with a four-run fifth, finishing with 10 runs on 12 hits.
Cesar Chavira led the offense with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, while George McCarroll delivered two hits and two RBIs. Shiryu Sato added two RBIs, and Chase Chapman also drove in a pair of runs.
Gavin Mesa and Jorge Cardenas each contributed RBIs, while Cochise continued to apply pressure throughout the lineup.
On the mound, Ben Smith earned the win, working 2.2 innings, while Landen Nigg and Ben Couvreur combined for 4.1 innings of strong relief, limiting Scottsdale to just two runs on three hits and striking out nine.
Apaches Stay Hot
Cochise continues to roll offensively and on the mound, combining for 23 runs on 25 hits in the doubleheader while holding their opponent to just five total runs.
