No. 14 Apaches Dominate Series Finale at Yavapai, Win 19–3 to Improve to 30–7 (11–4 ACCAC)
PRESCOTT, Ariz. — The No. 14 Cochise College Apaches closed out their ACCAC road series in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating Yavapai College 19–3 in Prescott to secure the series and improve to 30–7 overall (11–4 ACCAC) .
Offensive Explosion Powers Cochise
Cochise delivered another explosive offensive performance, scoring 19 runs on 11 hits while drawing 11 walks and capitalizing on Yavapai miscues throughout the game.
The Apaches broke things open early, scoring four runs in the second inning before erupting for an 11-run third inning that put the game out of reach.
Gavin Mesa led the offensive charge with a huge day, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs, while scoring three times. Andrugh Yee added a home run and matched Mesa with four RBIs, continuing his strong weekend.
Zach Cavanaugh contributed a big performance with three RBIs and three runs scored, while Anthony Montez added two hits and two RBIs. Cesar Chavira also drove in two runs, and Jorge Cardenas and Shiryu Sato each added RBIs as Cochise received production throughout the lineup.
Pitching Holds the Line
On the mound, Noah Miller delivered a strong outing, earning the win after working 4.2 innings, allowing just three runs (two earned) while striking out seven.
Ben Couvreur closed out the game, recording the final out and helping secure the run-rule victory for the Apaches.
Cochise's pitching staff limited Yavapai to just five hits, keeping the Roughriders from building any sustained momentum.
Strong Finish to the Series
The Apaches responded in a big way after splitting Friday's doubleheader, showcasing their offensive depth and resilience to take the series on the road.
Cochise has now reached 30 wins on the season, continuing to establish itself as one of the top programs in the conference.
