No. 14 Apaches Split Road Doubleheader at Yavapai, Move to 29–7 (10–4 ACCAC)
PRESCOTT, Ariz. — The No. 14 Cochise College Apaches split Friday's ACCAC doubleheader on the road against Yavapai College, exploding offensively in the opener before falling in game two. Cochise now stands at 29–7 overall and 10–4 in conference play.
Game One: Cochise 22, Yavapai 9
The Apaches delivered one of their most explosive offensive performances of the season in the opener, rolling to a 22–9 victory behind a relentless attack at the plate .
Cochise scored in six different innings, highlighted by an eight-run fourth inning and a four-run seventh, finishing with 22 runs on 15 hits while drawing 15 walks.
Jorge Cardenas led the charge with a massive performance, going 4-for-6 with 7 RBIs, including a home run. Landon Blais added three hits and three RBIs, while Andrugh Yee contributed a home run and three RBIs.
Sawyer Fech drove in three runs, and Gavin Mesa scored four times while reaching base five times. Shiryu Sato also scored four runs, and Zach Cavanaugh added two hits and reached base multiple times as Cochise's lineup produced top to bottom.
On the mound, Collin Smith earned the win, working five innings while striking out five. Daniel Gomez was sharp in relief, tossing two scoreless innings to help close out the victory.
Game Two: Yavapai 12, Cochise 4
In Game 2, Yavapai responded with a strong performance, defeating Cochise 12–4 to earn the split .
The Roughriders jumped out early with six runs in the first two innings and maintained control throughout. Cochise attempted to rally, scoring runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, but could not overcome the early deficit.
Gavin Mesa led the Apaches with two hits, while Anthony Montez delivered a two-RBI hit. Jorge Cardenas also drove in a run, and Shiryu Sato added a hit and scored.
On the mound, Austin Cushman took the loss after allowing six runs in four innings. Max Pitts provided a solid relief effort, striking out eight over 5.1 innings while limiting further damage.

With the split, Cochise continues to show offensive firepower while battling through conference competition on the road.
