No. 15 Apaches Open Central Arizona Series with 7–3 Victory, Extend Win Streak to Eight
DOUGLAS, Ariz. — The No. 15 Cochise College Apaches continued their dominant stretch in conference play Friday afternoon, defeating Central Arizona College 7–3 at Bo Hall Field. The win marks eight consecutive victories for Cochise, improving the Apaches to 25–5 overall (8–2 ACCAC) .
Power Bats Back Strong Pitching
Cochise used a combination of timely power hitting and a standout performance on the mound to take control of the conference opener.
After a scoreless start, the Apaches broke through in the third inning with two runs and later added a decisive four-run sixth inning to create separation. Cochise finished with seven runs on 11 hits, highlighted by three home runs.
Landon Blais led the offensive effort, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs, providing a major spark in the middle of the lineup. Andrugh Yee added a home run and two RBIs, while Zach Cavanaugh also went deep and drove in two runs.
Additional contributions came from Sawyer Fech, who collected two hits, and Anthony Montez, who added a hit and a run scored as the Apaches produced throughout the lineup.
Cushman Dominates on the Mound
On the mound, Austin Cushman delivered one of his strongest outings of the season. The right-hander worked seven shutout innings, allowing nine hits but consistently working out of trouble while striking out eight to earn his fifth win of the year.
Shane Hooper followed with a scoreless eighth inning, and Ben Couvreur closed out the game despite a late push from Central Arizona, securing the victory for Cochise.
Apaches Stay Hot
Cochise has now won eight straight games, continuing to show balance on both sides of the ball. The Apaches' ability to combine power hitting with quality pitching has fueled their surge in ACCAC play.
