Apaches Defeat Eastern Arizona 8–5 for Third Straight Conference Win
DOUGLAS, Ariz. --- The Cochise College Apaches opened their weekend conference series with an 8–5 victory over Eastern Arizona College on Friday afternoon at Bo Hall Field, extending their winning streak to three games and improving to 20–5 overall on the season .
Early Offense Sets the Tone
Cochise wasted no time taking control of the game, erupting for four runs in the first inning. The Apaches continued to apply pressure throughout the afternoon, adding single runs in the third and later breaking the game open with three more runs in the fifth inning.
The Apaches finished with nine hits and eight runs, capitalizing on patience at the plate with eight walks.
TJ Shaw Jr. led the offensive effort with a big performance, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Landon Blais also had a strong day at the plate, collecting three hits and two runs scored, while Andrugh Yee contributed two hits and scored twice.
Additional RBIs came from Shiryu Sato and Anthony Montez, as Cochise spread production throughout the lineup.
Strong Pitching Performance
On the mound, Austin Cushman delivered another solid outing for the Apaches. The right-hander worked 6.2 innings, allowing three runs while striking out four to earn his fourth win of the season.
Shane Hooper provided relief in the eighth inning before Ben Couvreur shut the door in the ninth to record the save and secure the win for Cochise.
Despite Eastern Arizona collecting 10 hits, the Apaches' pitching staff limited damage in key moments and held the Gila Monsters scoreless over the final inning.
Momentum Continues
The victory marks Cochise's third consecutive win as the Apaches continue to build momentum during conference play.
