Apaches Power Past Colorado Northwestern, Improve to 4–1
The Cochise College Apaches continued their strong start to the 2026 season on Thursday afternoon, defeating Colorado Northwestern Community College 8–3 at Bo Hall Field to improve to 4–1 overall.
Cochise responded quickly after Colorado Northwestern scored three runs in the second inning, answering with consistent offense and timely power to take control of the game, as shown in the official box score.
The Apaches opened the scoring with a run in the first inning and added two more in the second before breaking the game open with a three-run third. Cochise continued to apply pressure with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, finishing the contest with 13 hits.
Jorge Cardenas led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two home runs. Landon Blais also delivered a strong performance, collecting two hits, including a home run, and driving in two runs. TJ Shaw Jr. added a pair of hits and an RBI, while Shiryu Sato and Joe Madill each contributed RBIs.
Sawyer Fech scored twice and added a triple, while Chase Chapman chipped in with a triple as part of Cochise's extra-base hit production.
On the mound, Dylan Torres earned the win to move to 2–0 on the season, allowing three runs over five innings while striking out five. He was supported by Ben Couvreur, who tossed two scoreless innings in relief and recorded three strikeouts to close out the victory.
Overall, Cochise's pitching staff limited Colorado Northwestern to five hits and struck out eight batters, while the defense played error-free baseball.
With the win, the Apaches improved to 4–1 and remained unbeaten at home during the early portion of the season.
