The women’s basketball team works to build a strong sense of team unity throughout the day, every day. First-year coach Laura Hughes urges her players to be there for each other, whether it’s on or off the court. In addition to numerous team building and volunteer activities during those few moments of downtime, Apache players can often be found eating lunch or dinner together at the campus cafeteria, as well as in study hall together, scheduled three times a week. As Coach Hughes likes to say, “We will play hard, play smart and play together at all times!”

In February 2013, the Cochise women took a break in the middle of a tough conference schedule to host a youth clinic on the Douglas Campus.
