In October, the Cochise College men’s basketball team took time to assist in the 28th Annual Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb. The race is one of the most unique physical fitness challenges in the USA!
The Bisbee 1000 stair climb is arguably one of the most unusual and challenging events in the world. The 4.5-mile course features nine staircases (over 1000 total steps) connected by winding roads. While enjoying the challenge, runners and walkers alike see some of the most scenic parts of Old Bisbee. The men’s basketball team assisted with the set-up, break-down, manning the water stations and in race management throughout the day. Head Coach Jerry Carrillo also participated in the race, finishing in 264th place out of 1305 runners.
The Apaches hosted their annual Cochise Buddies Youth Basketball Clinic. The event, staffed by current Cochise College players, teaches basic fundamental basketball skills to kids in grades K-9th . This year the event attracted 44 kids from all over Cochise County.
