Cochise baseball falls in doubleheader against Central Arizona

Cochise baseball team lost both games in their second conference series at home in Douglas, Arizona. In the first game of the doubleheader, Nate Rohlicek got the ball on the Apaches’ mound. He got the loss in the pitcher’s duel after going seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out ten, and walking zero. Led by Eduarny Martinez with two hits, the Apaches out-hit Central but could not overcome their one committed error in the top of the fourth, with runners on first and second and one out. Connor Caskanette (double), Ethan Silcox (single), Cameron Crotte (triple), Makai Desoto (single), Jimmy Deleon (single) all contributed to the Cochise offense in their three to one loss versus Central Arizona.

Again, the Apaches were in the lead in the second game of the doubleheader until Central Arizona pulled away in the sixth with four runs and two more for insurance in the seventh inning. Ismail Pontiac took the loss for Cochise in game two, as he went five and third innings, allowing four hits on four runs, and striking out seven, walking five. Jose Velazquez and Marco Ozuna came in relief for the Apaches. Velazquez went one inning, giving up two hits on three runs. Ozuna went two and two-thirds innings, allowing no hits and striking out six. Cameron Crotte led the offense for Cochise having three hits. Connor Caskanette and Aaron Marsh both had two hits. Ethan Silcox, Jimmy Deleon, Gerardo Hernadez all had one hit. The Apaches had ten hits again out to hit Central Arizona in a seven to three loss.

The Apaches are currently two and two in ACCAC play.
