Apache Baseball Drops Two Games Against Yavapai

On Saturday, February 29, the Cochise Apaches traveled to Prescott, AZ to take on the Yavapai Rough Riders. In game one of the doubleheader, Cochise turned to Freshman RHP Nate Rohlicek to start. He allowed six hits and five runs over five innings, striking out seven. Out of relief was Freshman RHP Marco Ozuna, who went two and a third innings. Cochise collected nine hits on the day, Hernan Yanez, Jaime De Leon, Alex Stinnett, and Ryan Magdic all had multiple hits. Stinnett led the offense with four RBI’s. Unfortunately, nine runs weren’t enough which resulted in a 10-9 loss for the Apaches.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Apaches looked to Sophomore LHP Ryan Magdic for a start. Magdic lasted three innings, allowing four runs on five hits. Kyle Morrison threw two innings of relief, and Mason Piert also relieved in the game throwing an inning. Cochise went down early trailing 7-0 after five innings. After scoring in the top of the sixth, Cochise had gained a little bit of momentum, which led to a four-run top of the seventh inning cutting it to 7-5. Although the Apaches provided a late spark in the game, they fell to the Rough Riders 7-5. Cochise tallied six hits in the game. De Leon and Saunders led the way with multiple hits. Cochise Baseball plays at home field in Douglas against Park University at noon on Wednesday, March 4.
