Cochise basketball move on to the playoffs

Cochise College men’s and women’s basketball teams will host the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 1 semi-final games at home court in Douglas, Arizona. Coach Laura Hughes has led her team to a 26-4 overall record, 18-4 in conference play. The Lady Apaches, who are the number two seed in the four-team tournament, will play Eastern Arizona College, the number three seed.

The Lady Apaches and Gila Monsters will tip-off on Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. Admission for the game will be $5.00.

The Cochise College men’s basketball team is the number one seed in the Region 1 playoff for the second year in a row. Head Coach Jerry Carrillo has led this year’s Runnin’ Apaches to a 23-7 overall record and 17-5 conference mark. Coach Carrillo seeks his sixth NJCAA Region 1 championship with a team that is currently 23-7. 

The ACCAC champions will host the fourth-seeded Arizona Western College Matadors on Saturday, February 29 at 7:00 p.m. Admission for the game will be $5.00.
