In the home opener, Cochise College played Glendale CC and dominated possession during the first half. Cochise had ten shot attempts in the first half compared to Glendale’s three. Sophomore Breanne Huitz started off the scoring in the 40th minutes with a 30 yard shot off a corner kick from freshman Majhu Azarias, which deflected off of freshman Destiny Valdez. Two minutes later, sophomore Leticia Seabra scored from the edge of the penalty box with an assist from Majhu Azarias. The Apaches went into the second half leading 2-0. Just after half time in the 56th minute, Majhu Azarias scored again for the Apaches, assisted by sophomore Sarah Ntifu. The Apaches gave up two goals to Glendale in the last 20 minutes of play but pulled out a 3-2 victory. Freshman Brianna Guzman played in goal and netted nine saves throughout the game.
