Soccer team defeats Glendale

The Cochise College Apaches opened their season in Glendale, Arizona on Thursday, August 29 against Glendale Community College. Under new leadership and less than half of the team returning from last year, the ladies came out strong and confident. The Apaches dominated the entire game with 14 shots on goal. Sophomore and captain, Leticia Seabra started the scoring in the 22nd minute with a free-kick from 25 yards out. The Apaches went into half time with a 1-0 lead. Rafaela Oliveira da Silva scored in the 46th minute off a cross from Sarah Ntifu. The Apaches had nine total corner kicks, and Sarah Ntifu netted one after the ball bounced around in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Both Nicole Cooper and Breanne Huitz assisted her. Sofia Gallegos, a freshman from Chihuahua, Mexico, rounded off the scoring in the final minutes of the game off a breakaway from Breanne Huitz. Freshman Brianna Guzman got the shutout in goal for the Apaches. The final score was Cochise 4, Glendale CC 0.
