Chris Whitaker had a season to remember at Cochise College. The freshman wing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania led the Apaches in scoring with an average of 19.5 points per game and voted as Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year for the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC). The decorated, Whitaker took the league by storm and contributed to an ACCAC regular season championship and a national ranking of #17 in the final National Junior College Athletic Association poll of the year.
“We are excited for Chris and his signing to Portland State. We feel as though that he is going into a good situation for the remainder of his collegiate playing career,” Head Coach Jerry Carrillo said. “Chris’ ability to showcase his talent and help us win is a tribute to him buying into our winning culture. Chris will be leaving here as a highly decorated athlete, and we are happy to have helped and been a part of his journey as a basketball player.”
