Three baseball players selected as All ACCAC and All-Region teams

With the 2019 ACCAC, the regular season concluded the coaches met on Sunday, April 28 to vote on the All-conference and All-region awards.  Three players from this year’s Cochise College baseball team were recognized with All-conference awards.  As well as Coach Inglehart being named 2019 ACCAC Coach of the Year.  This is the second time in the last three seasons Ingle hart has earned this honor.

Freshman Isiah Campa would be named the First Team All ACCAC and First Team All-Region as well as ACCAC Pitcher of the Year.  Campa was recruited out of Socorro High School in El Paso, TX as he would go on to have one of the best regular seasons a freshman Cochise pitcher has ever had.  Campa was not even a starting pitcher for the Apaches at the beginning of the year as his role was mainly working out of the bullpen.  With great outings in relief and an opening in the starting rotation, Campa would go on to being one of the best starting pitchers in the entire conference.  Campa started ten conference games this year ending the regular season with an 8-0 record.  In 61 innings of work, Campa would only allow 33 hits with 79 strikeouts and a 1.92 ERA.

Fellow freshman Hernan Yanez was a workhorse for the Apaches all year.  Yanez caught almost every conference game for the Apaches as he was named 2nd Team All ACCAC and 2nd team All-Region.  Yanez was recruited out of San Luis High School in San Luis, AZ.  The switch-hitting Yanez would end the regular season hitting .262 in the conference with 32 hits, eight doubles, one home run, and 15 RBIs.  Yanez was not only one of the best hitting catchers in the conference but was arguably the best defensive catcher in the conference.  Yanez threw out 50% of the base stealers attempting to steal on him this year.

Sophomore George Sutherland was named 2nd Team All ACCAC and 2nd Team All-Region.  Sutherland transferred to Cochise mid-year last year from Towson University.  He is originally from Long Island, NY.  Sutherland played OF for the Apaches the last two seasons as he would go on to have a very productive sophomore season.  Sutherland would hit .333 leading the Apaches with 44 conference hits; he would also hit seven doubles, six triples, two home runs, and 28 RBIs.
