Cochise rodeo headed to CNFR

The Cochise College Women’s rodeo team is headed to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming after winning the final rodeo of the season in Socorro, New Mexico. The women’s team finished the season in first place in the Grand Canyon Region standings. The Cochise men finished fourth.

At the regional finals rodeo, team captain Maddee Doer won both the goat tying and all-around. Teammate Hope Luttrell placed in both rounds and the average in the barrel racing.

Women’s Team Champions

Maddee Doerr- All-Around Champion, Goat Tying Champion, 5th place Breakaway Roping.

Jill Donnelly- Reserve Champion All-Around, Reserve Champion Barrel Racing, 5th place Goat Tying.

Hope Lutrell- 4th place Breakaway Roping, 5th place Barrel Racing. 12th place Goat Tying.

Catherine Clayton- 5th place Goat Tying.

Devri Priest- 15th place Goat Tying.

Wyatt Hershberger- 3rd place Team Roping.

The College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming will be held from June 9 – 15. Five Apaches will be representing Cochise College. Maddee Doerr in Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying, Jill Donnelly in Barrel Racing and Goat Tying, Hope Luttrell in Breakaway Roping, and Catherine Clayton in Goat Tying will join over 400 cowboys and cowgirls from over 100 universities and colleges. Men’s team captain Wyatt Hershberger qualified as an individual in Team Roping.
