Women’s basketball rolls to 20 point victory over Central

#21 Cochise College Women’s Basketball gained another important road win 77-57 over the Central Arizona Vaqueras.  The Apaches have now won 10 in a row and continue to lead the nation in scoring defense, allowing opponents only 47 points per game.  The Apaches are now 19-3 on the season and 13-1 in conference play.

Raena Suggs led all scorers making five 3 point shots.  Awa Keita added 18 points, and LaPraisjah Johnson chipped in with 12 points.  The Apaches shot 48 percent, making 9 of their 18 3 point shots.

“I am proud of the effort by the team tonight,” Coach Laura Hughes said. “We executed our game plan and fought off Centrals runs to get back in the game at times.  It’s great for us to get a victory over a physical and aggressive team.”

The Apaches return to their home court to take on Division One opponent Arizona Western, Saturday, February 2.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
