#21 nationally ranked Cochise College women’s basketball added two more wins to their conference-leading total this past week. On Wednesday the Apaches dominated #14 Division Two ranked Pima College 92 to 42. Awa Keita and Yemiyah Morris both recorded double-doubles for the Apaches. Raena Suggs led all scorers with 20 points.
Next up the Apaches took on Scottsdale College Saturday which ended in another significant victory 94 to 45. Four players recorded double figures for the night with Awa Keita and Raena Suggs leading the way with 16 points each.
The Apaches continued to hold a two-game lead in the Arizona Community College Conference with a 12-1 record. They are ranked 21st in the country and are the #1 scoring defensive team in the entire nation, allowing opponents only 45 points per game.
“These were two good wins for us,” Coach Laura Hughes said. “We continue to work to get better every game. This team has a great balanced scoring attack and every night different players continue to step up.”
Women’s Basketball travels to Central Arizona College, Wednesday, January 30 to try an avenge their one conference loss on the season. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
