The Cochise College Women’s Soccer team embarked on the five-hour trip to rival Arizona Western Community College on Tuesday, September 18. The Apaches did not let the wear of travel affect their game, and they were first to score 18 minutes into the match. Freshman McKenna Jones would secure in a corner play. Seventeen minutes later, the Matadors were able to rally the score and then take a 2-1 lead with a little over a minute left in the first half.
With a stellar defensive performance, Cochise shut down Western the second half. Unfortunately, the Apaches were unable to find the back of the net again, and with the Matadors being awarded a penalty kick in the second half, Cochise would fall 3-1 in a very close match.
The Lady Apaches are back on their home turf as they host Pima Community College this Thursday, September 20 for a 3:00 pm kickoff.
