The Cochise College Women’s Soccer Team took the road Thursday, September 13, to challenge Phoenix Community College. The evening kickoff failed to fend off the triple-digit weather as the squads took the pitch. Fifteen minutes in, the Bears were able to capitalize on a corner. The Apaches fought to lock it down the rest of the first period, going into the half only trailing by one. Defense is led by Freshman Amanda Acuna and Freshman Kiara Villaescusa.
Phoenix furthered their lead ten minutes into the second half, but Cochise responded merely eight minutes later with a goal by Freshman Leticia Seabra assisted by Sophomore Lupita Ibarra. With twenty-eight minutes left of the match and a score of 2-1, the Apaches were ready to go to battle. The high intensity back and forth play ended with four goals for the Bears and Cochise with 1, contending all the way to the final whistle.
The Lady Apaches are now 3-3-1 in region play and are on the road again this Saturday to take on Paradise Valley.
