Cochise College Women’s Soccer took the home pitch Saturday, September first, at 1:30 pm for their second regional game of the season. The Lady Apaches were out to defend their turf against the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes. Under the cloudy sky, Cochise came hot off the whistle, connecting pass after pass to create numerous scoring opportunities but failing to capitalize. Although the coyotes attempted to ramp up the offense in the last twenty, the Apaches carried the game into a scoreless half.
The second half started off shaky for Cochise as Chandler’s #20, Freshman Sara Svoboda netted one only two minutes in. But the Apaches refused to stay down, a little over ten minutes later; a transition led to a goal from Freshman Leticia Seabra assisted by Elizabeth Botello to rally up the score. Nearly fifteen minutes later, Leticia was hungry for another, and after persistent defensive pressure from Sophomore Crystal Munoz, she was able to capitalize on a breakaway to take Cochise 2-1 until the final whistle.
The Lady Apaches will attempt to defend their home pitch once again on Tuesday, September 4, at 1:00 pm to take on another region opponent, Glendale.
