Cochise College Women’s Basketball overcame a six-point halftime deficit to defeat #4 ranked division two Pima College 81-66. The Lady Apaches used a big third quarter outscoring Pima 29-16 and never looked back. The Apaches held Pima to only 66 points, 14 points below their league-leading 80 points per game. They dominated the boards outrebounding Pima 45 to 29. Awa Keita recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Deezha Battle added 16 points and 5 assists. Jazzy Hughes was also in double figures with 12 points.
“This was a good road win for our team,” stated Coach Laura Hughes. “Pima is a well-coached team that can really shoot the three. Our defensive intensity picked up the second half and that made the difference for us.”
The Apaches are now 14-2 on the season and 6-1 in ACCAC action.
The Apaches travel to South Mountain, January 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
