Chaz Mack has 27 first-half points and 43 for the game to lead the Apaches
The Cochise College Men’s Basketball team jumped out to a 60-43 halftime lead Wednesday night and were able to hold off the charging South Mountain Cougars for a thrilling 106-99 victory.
Sophomore, Chaz Mack had a career-high 43 points and added 11 rebounds in leading the Apaches. Mack had 27 points in the first half and only missed two field goals on the night. Sophomore, Caleb Highley added 14 points while fellow Sophomore, Ludovic Kader chipped in 10 points for the Apaches. Freshman, Mahki Morris added 15 points off the bench for Cochise in the win.
The Apaches are now 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the ACCAC.
Cochise Head Coach Jerry Carrillo stated, “Our Assistant Coach Derek Lane really had our guys prepared for the Cougars via a great scouting report. That combined with our guys coming out with great energy, led us to play very well for the first 15 minutes of the first half. It may have been our best 15 minutes of the year. Chaz Mack was just a beast—he was so efficient. He played very well.”
Cochise returns home to the Cochise Stronghold gymnasium to take on ACCAC rival Mesa CC on Saturday, January 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
