Cochise Women’s Basketball Coasts to 71-40 win over Scottsdale

Once again the Cochise College Women’s Basketball team jumped to an early lead and coasted to victory. The Apaches led the Scottsdale Artichokes 23-5 after the first quarter and 38-11 at the half. The last three games the Apaches have dominated the rebounding battle. Once again outrebounding their opponent by 20.

Four players finished in double figures. Jasmine Coleman led the way with 14 points. Mamita Diagne recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Deezha Battle and Yemiyah Morris each added 10 points.

The Apaches finish before the break 9-2 overall and 4-1 in ACCAC conference play.

Head Coach Laura Hughes said, “I was really happy with our first half defensive effort. We also had a good balanced inside-out scoring attack. Deezha Battle is doing a great job for us at the point guard spot running the offense and scoring when needed. She is really setting the tone for our team on both ends of the floor.”

The Apaches return from break December 28 vs #25 ranked Snow College. The game is part of the Bruce Fleck Pima Tournament held on the Pima campus in Tucson, AZ. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
