Cochise extends win streak to seven games with 85-66 victory over Central Arizona College.

Five Apaches score in double figures to secure road win

The Cochise College Men’s basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to defeat ACCAC foe Central Arizona College 85-66 in Signal Peak Wednesday night. The win improves the Apaches overall record to 7-0 and 2-0 in ACCAC play this season. Cochise led 34-27 at halftime and pushed the lead to double-digits in the second half.

The Apaches were led by sophomore Bryan Urrutia who tallied 18 points and 7 assists. Sophomore Chaz Mack had another double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Sophomore Naquwan Solomon added 16 points and 4 rebounds. Freshmen, Jamuare Gregg and Mahki Morris chipped in 13 points apiece to round out the balanced offensive attack.

“Our defensive intensity was very good for all 40 minutes tonight. Our guys are defending with great pride at this point in the young season,” said Head Coach Jerry Carrillo
Sophomore guard Bryan Urrutia commented, “We did a good job on Central’s shooters and we moved the ball very well on offense. It was a good road win.”
Cochise College forward, Chaz Mack picked up his third consecutive double-double of the season and fourth of the season.

Cochise will be at home this Saturday, Dec. 2 with a match-up versus ACCAC rival Eastern Arizona College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Cochise Stronghold Gymnasium.
