Apaches fall in OT

The Cochise Lady Apaches traveled to Yuma this past Tuesday to take on the Matadors of Arizona
Western. The Apaches would lose a heartbreaker in overtime by the final score of 3-2.
The Apaches would sit back most of the first half to soak up the pressure from Western and looked to
hit them on the counter-attack. This paid off in the 42 nd minute as the Apaches would score the first goal
of the game. A well-worked move between Savannah Hobbs (FR. Rio Rico, AZ), Kira Sevor (FR. San Jose,
CA), and Brunella Cassalino (SO. Lima, Peru) created a chance for Janet Squire (SO. Tucson, AZ) which
she made no mistake from12 yards out.
Arizona Western would answer with a goal of their own right after halftime in the 48 th minute to knot
the score at one apiece. The Apaches would respond very quickly to Western’s goal with a goal of their
own in the 51 st minute to retake the lead. Kira Sevor would tally the goal off an assist from Crystal
Munoz (FR. Douglas, AZ). The Apaches would defend this lead with vigor, but unfortunately with 48
second left in regulation the Matadors would tie the game up and send the match into overtime.
In overtime, Arizona Western would score the game winner in the 97 th minute off a header following a
cross into the box. The loss drops the Apaches to 2-7 on the season.
The Lady Apaches will return home this Thursday for a match against the Artichokes of Scottsdale
Community College. Kickoff is set for 3pm.
