The Cochise women’s soccer team traveled to Rose Mofford Sport Complex on Tuesday to face the defending national champions, Paradise Valley. The Apaches would drop the match by a final score of 2-1.
Cochise started the match with the first chance falling to Kira Sevor (FR, San Jose, CA) inside the six-yard box.
The Puma’s keeper was able to make a good save to prevent the score. Both teams were able to create scoring chances throughout the first half, but failed to break the deadlock as the first half came to a close tied at 0-0.
Paradise Valley would score the opening goal of the game in the 51st minute off a penalty kick following a foul in the box. The Pumas would double the lead in the 79th minute off a corner kick which was headed in.
The Apaches would press hard to get back into the game and did so off a penalty kick of their own in the 82nd minute.
Magali Brizuela (FR. Ascunsion, Paraguay) would make her first score of the season off the spot kick.
Towards the end of the match, the Apaches continued to pressure the Pumas back line, but they were unable to produce another goal as the game ended 2-1.
The Lady Apaches will continue their road travels as they face local rivals Pima Community College this Friday night at 7 p.m. Game will be hosted at the Kino Sports Complex.
