Apaches drop game to Geckos

 The Lady Apaches dropped a close match on Monday, September 11, to the visiting Geckos of Gateway Community College by a score of 3-2. The loss drops the Apaches to 2-5 overall and 2-5 in the ACCAC.
Cochise was able to strike with the first goal of the match in the 24th minute by Brunella Cassalino
(FR. Lima, Peru). Cassalino was able to turn in a shot off a rebound following good work from Janet
Squire (SO. Tucson, AZ), Magali Brizuela (FR. Asuncion, Paraguay), and Kira Sevor (FR. San Jose, CA).
Cochise was only able to hold onto that lead for a minute as Gateway would equalize in the 25th minute
with a goal of their own. Gateway would double their advantage in the 42 nd minute and take a 2-1 lead

The Apaches would step up their efforts in the second half and put pressure on the Geckos goal and
were rewarded with a goal in the 60th minute. Magali Brizuela would notch the goal with a laser into the
top corner from 35 yards out off an assist from Brunella Cassalino. The lady Apaches would search for a
winning goal, but the Geckos would have the final say as they tallied their third goal of the game in the
81 st for the game-winner.

The Apaches will look to regroup before hitting the road again for the next game against Mesa
Community College in Phoenix. The game is scheduled for 4:30 pm on Friday, September 15.
