Apaches fall to Thunderbirds

The Lady Apaches dropped a close match to the host, Mesa Thunderbirds, by a score of 2-0. The
loss drops the Apaches to 2-6 on the season.

The Apaches started the match well and were able to create several opportunities close to the
goal, but were unable to capitalize. The Apaches enjoyed a large share of the possession, but had
to defend quickly to prevent Mesa from creating chances on the counter attack. The game
entered halftime scoreless.

The Thunderbirds would open the scoring on a goal in the 47th minute to take the 1-0 lead.
Cochise would continue to look for their opening goal and created more chances on goal. Kira
Sevor (FR. San Jose, CA) and Crystal Munoz (FR. Douglas, AZ) would come close to scoring,
but were unable to find the back of the net. These missed chances came back to haunt the Lady
Apaches as Mesa would add a second goal in the 58th minute. Brunella Cassalino (SO. Lima,
Peru) would hit the crossbar with a shot, but that would be the closest the Apaches came to
finding a goal of their own.

The Apaches will open a busy week on the road against the Matadors of Arizona Western in
Yuma on Tuesday September 19. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
