Soccer takes first win of the season

The Cochise College women’s soccer team took their first win of the season this past Saturday against the visiting
Gauchos of Glendale Community College.

The game started with a brief rain and wind storm, which in turn, made the first 10 minutes of the game
very sloppy and disjointed. Once the rain passed, the Apaches settled down and began to take

unassisted goal. It would not take long for Cochise to add a second. Janet Squire (So. Tucson, AZ) would
score her first of the season off and assist from Sevor.

The Lady Apaches would continue their goal-scoring ways with Brunella Cassalino (So. Lima, Peru) adding
2 goals in the 21 st and 23rd minute. Janet Squire made sure the Apaches ended the half strongly with her

Cochise would head into the halftime break with the score at 5-0.

The second half Cochise would put pressure on the Gauchos goal, but would not extend the score line
any further.

Glendale grabbed two consolation goals in the 76th and 78th minute to bring the final score
to 5-2 in favor of the Apaches.

The Apaches will venture out for their first road trip of the season to the defending national champions,
Paradise Valley. The game is Tuesday, August 29 at 4:30 p.m. at Rose Mofford Sports Complex.
